Announced in connection with Independence Day 2026, in a list of Navi Mumbai police personnel selected for medals recognising long, meritorious and unblemished service. Reporting records that fifteen personnel of the commissionerate were selected, that fourteen were felicitated by the Commissioner at the Independence Day ceremony, and that the Commissioner himself was selected for the Ati-Utkrusht Seva Medal, to be presented by the Director General of Police at a separate ceremony.

Medals of this class are awarded for the record of a career rather than for a single act. They are conferred on the recommendation of the state police administration and recognise sustained service without adverse record.

Appointed by Government of Maharashtra order and assumed charge on 14 December 2022, on transfer from Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Mumbai, and on promotion to Additional Director General of Police.

Command of a metropolitan commissionerate is a professional milestone in its own right: it places unified charge of a city’s entire police organisation, together with certain regulatory powers over public assembly and preventive orders, in a single appointment.

Held from 15 April 2015 to 28 April 2017, as recorded in the Mumbai Traffic Police’s own official roster of former heads of the organisation.

The appointment carries charge of traffic policing for the whole of Greater Mumbai — enforcement, signalling, road safety and the movement planning that governs the city’s processions, festivals and emergencies.

Two further senior appointments are documented in official designations and established reporting: Special Inspector General of Police, Aurangabad Range, and Special Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Maharashtra State, Mumbai. He subsequently held Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Mumbai until December 2022.

These are listed as professional milestones rather than as honours. They are included because senior appointments are themselves a form of institutional recognition — each represents a judgement by the state administration about where responsibility could be placed.
